Public bug reported:

Hello, thank you for helping me with this.

Description:	Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
Release:	14.04

I installed Ubuntu 14.04 via pxeboot on the same machine two times. The
root files system got corrupted both times after reboot, requiring a new
install. For both install attempts I used LVM.

The third time I installed the OS without LVM.
Using fdisk -l, I noticed the following:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 2048 968415231 484206592 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 968417278 976771071 4176897 5 Extended
Partition 2 does not start on physical sector boundary.
/dev/sda5 968417280 976771071 4176896 82 Linux swap / Solaris

I ran fdisk /dev/sda to realign partition boundaries. Partition boundary misalignment during installation may be cause for files system corruption.
So far no problems with the partitions and filesystem.

** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
