You are using GPT on a bios booting computer.  This requires you to
create a 1 mb bios_grub partition.

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  At the end of the install, the installer reports being unable to write
  the grub file and suggest an alternate location for the grub. When a
  new location is selected, installation aborts.
