[Bug 1438997] [NEW] Patch fails when patching files inside symlinked directory

Ubuntu 15.04 is sufferring from

which is reported to be fixed in patch version 2.7.5 but 15.04 is shipping 2.7.4
its a regression as compared to 14.10

Can this be fixed by backporting the relevant pieces from 2.7.5  please
?
