Public bug reported:

Trying to install a version with an upgrade path on a machine that won't
boot from a CD tried the update installer option on the Lubuntu 12.04
disk because it had crashed without it as well. I am not sure this worth
pursuing as I am going to try an Xubuntu 10.04 CD I have to see if that
will work if not I will boot to windows and get a Ubuntu 12.04 image and
burn a new CD. If it helps Lubuntu 13.04 installed no problem it is just
has no upgrade path making software updates of any kind a real
annoyance.
