  12.04 to 14.04 upgrade via USB live failed to upgrade with apps

Bug description:
  none of my apps can be launch from the launchpad, I'm looking for the
  upgrade log but /var/log/dist-upgrade is empty. Is the is a bug or
  expected behavior?
