Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  unresolvable dependcies when upgrading ubuntu gnome trusty -> utopic.

  
  I started an upgrade. After all downloads were done and most of the installation had finished, the upgraded stopped with error message : "System may be in unstable state, dpkg --config will run"  (or something similar)

  running apt-get by hand gives the following message

  $ sudo apt-get upgrade
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree       
  Reading state information... Done
  You might want to run ‘apt-get -f install’ to correct these.
  The following packages have unmet dependencies.
   ubuntu-gnome-desktop : Depends: gnome-contacts but it is not installed
                          Depends: gnome-control-center but it is not installed
                          Recommends: cheese but it is not installed
                          Recommends: empathy but it is not installed
                          Recommends: gnome-maps but it is not installed
                          Recommends: mcp-account-manager-goa but it is not installed
                          Recommends: totem but it is not installed

  Running apt-get -f install attempts to remove ubuntu-gnome-desktop and
  the gnome-shell packages  (I haven't done this)

  Attempting to install gnome-contacts  depends on libcheese-gkt23
  libcheese depends on libcogl20 > 1.17
  and libcogl breaks libclutter-1.0.0 << 1.17
