Changing the entry

/net    -hosts

to

/net      /etc/auto.net


in /etc/auto.master does work for me now as well. In the time of 
initiating this bug report it wasn't.

Bug description:
  Using the auto.net in auto.master recognizes the nfs shares but unable
  to cd into the latest directory which contains the actual data.

  -host doesn't mount anything
