Yes, I seem to have an interaction with chrome. Once init has crashed I
have had chrome fail to read my profile and come up in a very weird
state ... reboot fixes ... until the next init crash.  I did have two
machines running 12.04. I've upgraded one machine to 14.04 and haven't
had the problem re-appear ... so far ... but it isn't convenient to
upgrade my 12.04 machine just now.
