Could you check which version of ubiquity you are using? I wonder
whether this might be a duplicate of bug 1373033 or at least related to
it. I don't see whether anyone has triggered that bug with French, but
multiple other languages are mentioned triggering it.

  installation fail when choosing french langage

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  After selecting timezone, error message box  ""ubi console setup failed with exit code 141" appear instead of keyboard selection screen. 
  Retrying fail again and when ignoring, installation go on for a while and fail later.
