another symptom of missing quotes on $quoted, see my fix for bug
1387057. Works for me on trusty with that fix applied.

Title:
bash completion doesn't work if multiple files with space in name
Status in bash-completion package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
To reproduce :
cd /tmp
touch "foo bar"
touch "foo boo"
ls foo (then press Tab key several times)
=> The two names should appear, but it doesn't work.
Doing the same thing with simple filename (without spaces in them)
seems to work fine.
