Title:
Cannot install 'ubuntu-desktop' when prompted to do a partial upgrade
  due to xorg-edgers PPA

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I just ran the standard Software Updater in ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and I
got a popup stating that not all updates could be installed, and that
it could be due to the necessity of a partial upgrade. I installed all
available updates, then tried to do a partial upgrade and got this
  message:

  Can't install 'ubuntu-desktop'

It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as
