I solved the missing pub key by using y ppa manager. That seems to have
been a none related issue, however.

The upgrade-manager still aborts with the same message which suggest I
report an error by the terminal command  ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-
upgrader-core.

Any suggestions are welcome. 
Can I give more information to help?

Bug description:
  trying to upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10 by update-manager I got a
  message to report a bug through  ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-
  core.
