Are you installing with LVM enabled? Note that at the moment that is
broken on Trusty images.

Title:
Installer crash after setting a boot partition (while installing)

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This is a MacBook Pro 7.1 machine. Installer shows one partition as
"biosgrub" so I left it as such. I installed the bootloader to
/dev/sda, then it copied all the files and crashed while setting up
  the bootloader.
