If you were upgrading to a new release of Ubuntu, it'd be quite helpful
if you were to add the tag 'dist-upgrade' to your bug report.

  New

Bug description:
   Dell 20" 2001FP LCD monitor works very nicely as my only screen with
  the launcher until screen dims (I have 5m setting).  After it dims, I
  lose the launcher and instead get just an Orange (looks like secondary
  screen) with the upper right controls.  It stays this way until I
  click on Sytem Settings... and the it comes back to life.
