If you click on the partition information window, what does it say the
error is?  Can you run sudo blkid and post the output?

Status in “gparted” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Was going to shrink partition and gparted shows swap as not
  recognized. Opened gnome-system-monitor and swap is not showing. This
  is a new build, fresh installl, of Xubuntu 14.04 beta 1
