The mentioned patches are upstream since some time, so this should be
fixed now (at least in trusty). If not, please re-open.

Title:
  Ndiswrapper doesn't start wlan0 (FRITZ!Wlan)

Status in “ndiswrapper” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I have still the old problem in ndiswrapper, that after a restart the
wlan-device isn't initialized. Sometimes it works, sometimes I need a
dozen 'sudo rmmod ndiswrapper && sudo modprobe ndiswrapper &&
  iwconfig' to get wlan0 started.

The whole problem and the old solution (compiling ndiswrapper with a
patch by your own) is described here:
  http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/FRITZ!WLAN_USB_Stick (Attention: German
  Source).

To be able to compile it on the 11.04 up to date kernel, I followed
  the instructions here http://chakra-
  project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?pid=28458 and after that these
  http://forum.nginx.org/read.php?31,154520,157836

After this I added the module manual to start on boot up

  # cd /lib/modules/misc
  # sudo cp ndiswrapper.ko ../2.6.38-5-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko
  # sudo depmod -a
  # sudo modprobe ndiswrapper

But after I have done all this, the old problem is still / again
persistent! Ndiswrapper just doesn't initialize wlan0 correctly every
  time it starts.
