Title:
Conceptual bug: Wireless madwifi driver unavailable when upgrading

Bug description:
I made the automatic upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04 via update manager
while being connected to an office wireless network.

Update worked perfectly, but after rebooting I was unable to connect.
Actually it seemed my wireless card didn't work at all (I could give
you model and numbers, but they are irrelevant here). I checked the
drivers and it seemed I might need madwifi driver to make the thing
  work again.

But I needed to connect to internet to get the driver. It's kind of
silly to need to connect to Internet in order to get what you need to
connect to Internet, don't you think?

I managed to get to a wired connection and fix it, but nevertheless, I
think the madwifi should be available for install from the hard drive
when one makes the update. In some campuses wireless is the only
  connection you can get.
