Public bug reported:

cd $HOME

$ ls ~/.ss[TAB]

This will complete to

$ ls ~/.ssh/

but now hit TAB again. Nothing gets completed even though there are
lots of files in ~/.ssh

$ ls ~/.ssh/id[TAB]

Still no completion despite

% ls ~/.ssh/id* | wc -l
7
