Title:
  Ubuntu hangs on install with black screen

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I've tried with secure boot enabled and disabled and also tried with
  legacy support enabled.  All variations of those options were tried.
  For Ubuntu, I've tried 13.10 on USB and CD and also 12.04 on CD, but
  computer always hangs.  I do get the option of running Ubuntu live or
  installing.  Doesn't seem to matter which option I choose.  Another
  screen comes up that ubuntu with "dots" that blink like its loading.
  I then see some text appear but then it disappears quickly, not long
  enough to read.  The text looks like linux displays when booting up.
  Soon as it disappears it goes to a black screen

  Trying to load on a laptop peloaded windows 8.  Its a HP Pavilion
  TouchSmart 15 Model E8A65UA.  Purchased December 2013.
