[Bug 1286592] [NEW] Installing Ubuntu 13.10 (next to WinXP) installer crashes

Public bug reported:

Tried this several times from USB ISO. "Try Ubuntu" works fine
(connectivity, sound, browsing). Removing USB stick and booting brings
up OS menu, choosing Ubuntu gives me black screen with blinking cursor
in upper right corner.
