This was fixed in Debian's zsh in 5.0.2-4 (commit and patch at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-
maint/zsh.git;a=commitdiff;h=76708e107f2cd82e8f91eb688af1c69aeabf0b37)
and upstream in 5.0.3. Upstream patch at
http://www.zsh.org/mla/workers/2013/msg00772.html

So this is currently an Ubuntu-specific issue and can be fixed by
syncing zsh with Debian.
