I had this problem as well. For me, the default Python version changed
during software updates causing the problem. You may want to check if
your default has been changed as well.


If you have never done this, you may find out what default is being used by typing the following in your terminal:
$python -V

If the version is not what it should be, you can revert it by using this command and picking the correct version from those installed on your system:
$sudo update-alternatives --config python
