It looks like this was fixed in 13.10.

  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Clicked minimize in the non front window (the one with the partitions;
  as opposed to the one with the progress bar); and the whole terminal
  froze.

  About 10 minutes later in a different virtual terminal; a crash
  finally occurred and I was able to submit this bug report; with
  details.
