I see that, but when one has 600 Ubuntu desktops it means one will get six hundred
emails, which is definitely not ideal. Perhaps there should be an option in /etc/default
to change how chatty the script is?

Title:
  package-data-downloader sends unnecessary email

Status in “update-notifier” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
  Release: 14.04

  update-notifier 0.154.1

On a fresh installation of Ubuntu, I get an email from cron.daily:

  /etc/cron.daily/update-notifier-common:
  flashplugin-installer: downloading
  http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/adobe-flashplu
  gin_11.2.202.378.orig.tar.gz
  Installing from local file /tmp/tmpKJ_ZKO.gz
  Flash Plugin installed.

The update-notifier-common cronjob should only send an email if something
went _wrong_, and should be quiet if its job was successful.
