Title:
Freeze at "setting up libc6:i386 (2.18.0ubuntu6)...."
Status in “eglibc” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Trusty installation
output:
*************
Extracting templates from packages: 100%
Preconfiguring packages ...
Setting up gcc-4.8-base:i386 (4.8.2-14ubuntu1) ...
Selecting previously unselected package libc6:i386
dpkg: warning: files list file forpackage 'libhttp-date-perllibc6'
missing; assuming package has no files currently installed
Reading database ....
Unpacking libc6:i386 (from .../libc6 2.18-Oubuntu6_i386.deb) ...
Setting up libc6:i386 (2.18-0ubuntu6) ...
*************
Then the whole system is frozen: lost mouse, keyboard, menus, ....
After a new cold boot, dpkg warn to run "sudo dpkg --configure -a" , but it freeze again the system.
I'm able to unlock the situation by purging the borked entries into /var/lib/dpkg/status & available & /updates/.
All i get is a bunch of broken packages that fail again to reinstall when libc6 is called by the upgrading processes.
Googling around that "libhttp-date-perllibc6" package does not help,
as it seems a very new issue.
