[Bug 1337356] Re: Unable to update/upgrade distro & installed packages

Hello; I'd try apt-get purging ubuntu-desktop and maybe kubuntu-desktop,
performing the upgrade, and then trying to re-install these packages.
That might be enough to allow the dependency tools to figure out an
upgrade path.

Thanks

Title:
Unable to update/upgrade distro & installed packages

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I run a somewhat customized version of ubuntu (cinammon desktop, KDE,
Gnome3 and LXFE), which I recently upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04. Ever
since then, I've been having some issues with packages I had
  installed.

That is to be expected, but lately, I get an error message whenever I
log in (probably the updater runs into problems). So when I now tried
to update my packages manually, I ran into this problem. I can, no
longer, keep my software up to date, it would seem.
