Title:
lspci crashes badly the whole system

Status in “pciutils” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
for some reason issuing the command
  lspci |grep Intel
made everything go very slow (choppy music, mouse movement etc...). A second lspci (without any grep) killed completely the system! Graphics break also (the whole screen breaks, like the "snow" in TV when there is no signal). I am on kubuntu intrepid 8.10 AMD64 with nvidia geforce 6100 (acer aspire 9302wsmi) using the 177.80-0ubuntu2 nvidia drivers, installed with envyng. I'm sorry but i don't know how to collect more info on the subject....any help is greatly appreciated!

P.S. i will also try to see if this happens with the "recommended"
173.14.12-1-0ubuntu4 drivers and post results a alittle bit later....
