An emergency shutdown like this indicates a severe hardware problem,
such as overheating. If you are able to reproduce this today there are
a few things we could do to confirm, this, but given the nature and age
of this report, I'm closing it now.

Title:
Install application crashes when attempting to install on Dell
Inspiron 8100 lapton
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gparted
When trying to install Ubuntu 9.10 Beta on my Dell Inspiron 8100
laptop, the install application crashes. I go through the wizard
okay, setting up time zone, partitions, user and password, and then it
brings up the dialog that tries to setup the partitions and copy the
files, but it only comes up for just a moment before shutting down.
9.04 worked just fine so it seems like the installer has a bug in it.
