9.10 reached end of life a few years ago, are you able to reproduce this
on 12.04+?

Title:
Ubuntu install only mode doesn't reboot

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

After I finished the installation in ubiquity-only mode, I clicked "Reboot now" and left the computer for a short time - when I came back, it seemed to me that the computer was stuck in some kind of infinite loop: I could see the wallpaper for a short time, then the screen flickered and I saw a black screen, then it went back to the wallpaper, flickered, black screen, flickered, wallpaper ... ad infinitem.
After I reset the computer manually, the new Ubuntu started up flawlessly, so it seems this error didn't have an impact on the functionality of the installed system.

Yesterday I had installed the computer in the live mode, where
rebooting had worked without a problem.

All this happened with Karmic Beta on a new Dell Studio 15 laptop with
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics card.
