This appears to either be a bug in the video driver or a hardware defect
rather than anything to do with unity.  Can you attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log?

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

  I have just installed the 9.04 Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my EEEPC with a
  7" screen.  The installer screens are too big for it so the action
  buttons are off the bottom of the screens with no way to make them
  visible.  I just had to guess that the Next or OK button had focus
  then hit Return.
