Title:
no support for non-DHCP network configuration

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
while installing edgy i noticed in the syslog that dhclient is keeping on trying to spot a dhcp server.
i do not know if it is important for, maybe, updating some packages, if available, but the problem is that the installer doesn't take account of the fact, as it is in my case, that the router could not have an active dhcp server.
i think that asking at the very beginning of the installation if the router is providing a dhcp service or not would be a much better choice.
