Title:
Installer uses inconsistent drive names
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
This was found in 8.04 (Hardy Heron alpha 4), but I'm being told "8.04" does not exist in Ubuntu".

Boot from standard Desktop CD.
Run installer, select default language, keyboard to get to Partitioner.
Partitioner refers to drives as "SCSI3 (0,0,0)"
There also is a "(sda)" at the end of the line, but that name is not obvious.
Select Manual install
Installer refers to partitions as "/dev/sda1"
Edit partition and set mount point to "/"
Set login, computer name, etc.
When Ready to Install, click Advanced
Boot loader says it will be installed on "(hd0)"
"sda" should be the first name of the drive listed in the partitioner (not SCSI 3).
"sda" should be the name of the drive listed in the installer (not /dev/sda).
"sda1" should be the name of the partition listed in the installer (not /dev/sda1).
"sda" should be the name of the drive listed in the advanced settings (not hd0).
The advanced settings should have a list of all drives available, and information about their sizes and partitions to make it easier for users to figure out which drive is being referred to.
