Don't tick the format box if you want to keep the existing format,
including the uuid and label.

Title:
Installing Ubuntu removes both UUID and LABEL from partition

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

When I install Ubuntu (Tribe 1 in this case), a new UUID is assigned
and the LABEL removed from the target partition.

This is problematic, since I cannot permanently identify a partition
  any more.

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UsingUUID, the usage of /dev/hd*
and /dev/sd* is not supported any more, but nevertheless it seems the
most stable option to identify a partition.
