Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks

Title:
Problem upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10. (No special packages previously
installed)
Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Trying to upgrade to 13.10 via "Updater" but keep being blocked with
an error saying that there is something wrong.
When I tried sudo apt-get update I found the following error.
W: GPG error: https://download.01.org Ubuntu Release: The following
signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not
available: NO_PUBKEY 8D8847D52F4AAA66
I disabled Intel driver repo (download.01.org) and re-tried, but it
didn't seem to make any difference.
