Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  not sure the full scenario, but it seemed to function fine until the
  last reboot. The update manager icon in the top bar became a
  horizontal white dash in a circle {of course} and the note to run
  package manager from right click or apt-get.  An installed file is
  broken essentially.  Likely a crash in install created this crash, but
  i'm just trying to be thorough[ish].
