In syslog we see the following:

Feb 24 09:02:24 ubuntu ubiquity: Unpacking thunderbird-locale-nl (from .../thunderbird-locale-nl_1%3a24.3.0+build2-0ubuntu0.12.04.1_i386.deb) ...
Feb 24 09:02:24 ubuntu ubiquity: dpkg-deb (subprocess): data: internal gzip read error: '<fd:4>: data error'
Feb 24 09:02:24 ubuntu ubiquity: dpkg-deb: error: subprocess <decompress> returned error exit status 2
Feb 24 09:02:24 ubuntu ubiquity: dpkg: error processing /target/var/cache/apt/archives/thunderbird-locale-nl_1%3a24.3.0+build2-0ubuntu0.12.04.1_i386.deb (--unpack):
Feb 24 09:02:24 ubuntu ubiquity: subprocess dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile returned error exit status 2
Feb 24 09:02:24 ubuntu ubiquity: No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already

This is indicative of the package becoming corrupt in memory. I would
try installing and not choosing to install updates for the internet and
see if the installation does not fail then. Thanks and good luck.
