Title:
  check-new-release-gtk is not proxy aware

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

I got a popup to encourage upgrade to the new release. Unfortunately
it is not proxy aware and was unable to load it's data:

  Unable to load page
Problem occurred while loading the URL http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/dist-upgrader-all/current/ReleaseAnnouncement.html?lang=en_US

  Cannot connect to destination (archive.ubuntu.com)

Work network here has no unauthenticated proxy but my workstation does
have correct configuration for HTTP proxy such as environment
variables. At worse you might want to substitute a "Are you online?"
warning instead of the unable to load error.

  Description:	Ubuntu 10.10
  Release:	10.10
Dell Intel x64 workstation using amd64 arch
  update-manager: Installed: 1:0.142.23

  hth,
  adric
