Public bug reported:

I recently installed Libreoffice 4.2 from the debs on their site. The
following day I received this in update manager.

Could not initialize the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package
information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include
the following error message:

'E:The package libobasis4.2-calc needs to be reinstalled, but I can't
find an archive for it.'

I went into the DEBS folder and did a dpkg -i libobasis4.2-calc_4.2.0.4-4_amd64.deb and was then able to open it again with no issues.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
