I tried it.  It loads without the upper window with the choice of iso...

The Make Startup Disk button becomes enabled after I erase the USB key.
When I click on it, however, I get an 'Installation Failed' popup.  I
get no error or other message in the terminal.

The best thing you can do is to download the Android ISO yourself from:
http://www.android-x86.org/download

  USB Creator does not recognize the Android ISO but Unetbootin does and
  is able to and works.  So, it can be done.
