This is intentional; you must not touch the individual drives if they
are part of a raid array.

Title:
Devices which were a part of quasi raid are not displayed in partition
configuration.
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
When installing kubuntu 12.04LTS, my SATA HDD connected to a
controller of H77 Intel chipset was not displayed by the installer. I
could not see/edit its partitions etc. and thus install the system.
I have found out that this happened because the HDD was a part of a
quasi RAID (Promise PDC20376 FastTrak 376, dummy 1 disk RAID 0)
previously. The remedy was to overwrite the RAID signature with zeros
(several last sectors of the HDD). After doing this, the HDD became
visible and installation has finished successfully.
I don't have any logs unfortunately, but neither of the files located
in /var/log/installer contained the information about this issue.
