[Bug 560374] Re: ubiquity does not show sata driver with bios RAID disabled

Disabling the raid bios doesn't change anything other than how the PC
boots. If you wish to use the drives in non raid mode, you need to
actually destroy the raid array with the bios utility, or with dmraid
-E.

Title:
ubiquity does not show sata driver with bios RAID disabled

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

  This bug affects at least 9.10 i386 and 10.04_AMD64 (beta1 and beta2).
I've a brand new Fujitsu Primergy TX100 S1 with 2x500 sata hd with NO OS on it. I've entered the bios and disabled the "on board" RAID controller, then I boot from Kubuntu (or Ubuntu as well) Live CD.
I can see sda and sdb from there with fdisk -l (are not yet partitioned), and dmesg shows them as well.
Then I run the installer, but at the stage where it should ask me where to install there is nothing listed.
I've tried many times, i.e. removing one of the two drivers, or connecting them to different sata ports, but without luck.
I've been able to install using the alternate installer, so I noticed that it shows a message and asks a question Ubiquity does not.
After checking (probing) disk info, the alternate installer asks:
"One or more drivers containing Serial ATA RAID configurations have been found. Do you wish to activate these RAID devices?", then I answered "No" and I saw the 2 HD listed (in any case, this question surprises me since, as stated before, the RAID controller is BIOS-disabled).
So I've the feeling that since Ubiquity does not pass this stage, or in any case does not ask that question to the user, it gets confused and finds no hd device to list.
