This was reported against an alpha release some time ago. Are you able
to reproduce this with 14.04 or 14.10?

Title:
  ubiquity hangs when existing LVM volumes are present

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Similar to existing bugs, but against the latest raring daily build
  (20130211, x86_64 desktop).

  Setup:

  I have two identical hard drives in my brand new workstation. I would
  like to use Ubuntu Desktop.

  Unfortunately, ubiquity currently has no support of automatically
  doing a proper SW RAID0 or RAID1 install on two harddisks. That would
  be really desirable, as it is a very common workstation setup.

  Anyway, I did the partitioning, RAID setup and LVM setup manually.

  After booting the Live CD, I installed mdadm in the live system,
  reassembled the RAIDs and activated my LVM volumes.

  Here's the layout:

  sda sda1 -> md0 sda2 -> md1
  sdb sdb1 -> md0 sdb2 -> md1
  md0: /boot
  md1: Physical volume for LVM
  LVM vg vg00, separate LVs for /root /usr /var /home /tmp /srv

  Ubiquity will hang at "Preparing to install", with some partman
  processes hanging. It seems that partman wants to propose reusing the
  existing volumes. However, this is not visible in the GUI ...
