It appears that you have two hard disks and have installed Ubuntu on the
second one ( sdb ), but the boot loader ( grub ) defaults to installing
on the first drive ( sda ), which fails because your first drive is
blank.  You either need to create a partition table and some kind of
partition on sda, or choose to install grub to sdb instead.

  Invalid

Bug description:
  While installing ubuntu on a brand new laptop (without pre-installed operating system), the process crashes with a fatal error concerning the grub-installer. The DVD with 14.04.1 LTS amd64 runs in >Try Ubuntu< demo mode without problems. Itried both ways to install the szstem> directly from the boot menu and from inside the demo mode.
