Ubuntu 14.10 installation on virtio-scsi disk fails with error

"No disk drive was detected. If you know the name of the driver needed
by your disk drive, you can select it from the list"

If 14.10 is installed using virtio-blk and later virtio-scsi is used to
boot the installed image, then it works.

So looks like an installation issue (unavailability of virtio-scsi
driver during installation)
