I'm trying to install kubuntu 14.04.01 LTS, amd64 version. I have the
same bug: installer throws "An error occurred while creating the
keyfile" message. As I'm forced to have encrypted data on my laptop (NDA
policy), I have to choose guided installation, which is not useful
(makes one great partition).

Bug description:
  When trying to create a new encrypted physical volume using the Kubuntu Trusty installer, partition creation fails with "An error occurred while creating the keyfile".  Alas, no further information is provided.
