Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if this is the same bug as #98827 or not. I've tried two
installs today and it happened at the same spot each time--right toward
the end of the process. (I'm submitting this from Chromium on the
machine itself: Lenovo T61.)

The first time, I'd removed the hard drive and plugged in an external
USB drive, installing from DVD to the whole drive (no manual
partitioning). I chose "NVidia" for the graphics driver, rather than
"Open Source", and agreed to download updates during install. After
rebooting, it wouldn't boot from the external drive, though I suppose
that could be a BIOS thing.

The second time, I put the main hard drive back in and made space for
Linux (one extended volume containing 6GB swap followed by 160GB or so
for root, ext4). I again chose NVidia, but this time I opted not to
download updates yet.

We'll see if it's bootable this time.
