Title:
Installation fail
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Just downloaded latest version of ubuntu 14 and want to install it on
a blank partition which I have created on my Acer Laptop TravelMate
model 7320 along side Windows 7 Pro 32bit. The windows program works
fine and has been running for about 2 years now without a problem.
I have prepared a flash drive containg the installation files. It
loads ok from the flash drive and get to the point where I get two
options.
Option 1 is Try Ubuntu and
Option 2 is Install ubuntu.
I have tried opion 1 which seems to work to a point but it wants an
internet connection but I am on a wireless connection. It can't
connect as it fails to find driver for the wi-fi card.
When I try to install to the hard drive it takes me through the first
few steps up to the point where it asks for my location which it
correctly identifies as Johannesburg (South Africa) and at that point
it pops up a message that the installer fails (crashes) with errno 5.
and generates a bug report of some sort and connects me to launchpad
to report the problem.
As I am new to linux/ubuntu I don't understand the questions you are
asking me or how to get any of the files listed below. Since
installion crashes I am not in a position to attach any files.
