Title:
  libsmbd_base.so.0 missing symlink?

Status in “samba” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ubuntu Release: 14.04
  samba version: 2:4.1.3+dfsg-2ubuntu2

Trying to use a Samba VFS (.so) that has been compiled somewhere else.

  [2014/02/13 16:35:01.660431, 0] ../lib/util/modules.c:48(load_module)
Error loading module '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/vfs/greyhole.so': libsmbd_base.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

  libsmbd_base.so.0 exists, in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/samba/libsmbd_base.so.0, but the module refers to libsmbd_base.so,
which I think should be a symlink to libsmbd_base.so, that would exist
  in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/ ?

To work around this issue, I can create a symlink like this:

  ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/libsmbd_base.so.0
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libsmbd_base.so

Then the Samba VFS module will load as expected.
