During upgrading (or trying to) 14.04 from 13.10, I get the error
message

"Es konnte nicht ermittelt werden, welche Systemaktualisierungen
verfügbar sind" ("It could not be determined which updates are
available", my translation)

and the upgrade cannot continue.
