I have the same problem with a little different install setup. I tried
to fresh install Ubuntu 14.04 on my laptop which has UEFI and winows 8.
Before I tried todo fresh install, I successfully upgraded my existing
Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 withouta problem. I wanted to do fresh install
again because my sound settings and other stuff seem to be too complex
and have some non-standard options from my own tweaks.
